Anise Icebox Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1egg
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 1 Tbsp. aniseed

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugars.

  2. Beat in egg.

  3. Combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cloves; gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in pecans and aniseed.

  4. Shape into two 10-inch rolls; wrap each in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 4 hours.

  5. Unwrap; cut 1/4 inch off the ends of each roll. Cut dough into 1/4 inch slices. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.

  6. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to wire racks to cool.
