Doughnuts

Ingredients

  • 2 T shortening
  • 1 C sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 4 t baking powder
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/4 t nutmeg
  • 1/4 t cinnamon
  • 3/4 t milk

Directions

  1. Cream shortening and sugar

  2. blend in beaten eggs

  3. Sift flour, baking powder, salt and spices.

  4. Stir in alternately into shortening and sugar, alternating the flour mixt and the milk.

  5. Refrig 2 hours

  6. Roll to 1/3 inch thickness. Cut with doughnut cutter

  7. Fry in fat 365 degrees and as soon as dough rises to surface and is brown, turn, and turn again when the second side is browned.

  8. When well browned, remove from fat and drain.

  9. Sugar just before serving
