Danish Apple Bars

Ingredients

  • 3 C flour
  • 1 t salt
  • 1 C shortening
  • 1 egg yolk, beaten
  • milk
  • 1 C crushed corn flakes
  • Filling
  • 8 C thinly sliced apples, peeled and cored
  • 1 sugar
  • 1 t cinnamon
  • 1 egg white, bean til stiff
  • Frosting- while warm
  • 1 C confectioners sugar
  • 3 T water
  • 1 t vanilla

Directions

  1. Sift flour and salt- cut in shortening

  2. Add enough milk to egg yolk to make 1/2 C and add to flour mixture. Roll out dough into 2 halves and use half dough in bottom of greased 9X13 pan.

  3. Sprinkle bottom dough with crushed corn flakes.

  4. Add apple , cinnamon, sugar mixture to bottom dough. Place second half dough on top . and brush with egg white.Make vent slits

  5. Bake 375 deg for 1 hour.

  6. Frost while still warm.
