Ingredients
- 3 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, halved, cored and sliced
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- Pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter,, cut into bits

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees,

Arrange the apples in a deep-dish pie plate.

In a medium bowl, combine the oat, sugar, walnuts, raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. With two knives or a pastry blender, combine with the butter until the mixture resembles a coarse meal. Sprinkle evenly over the apples.

Bake the crisp for 30 minutes, or until golden brown on top. Let the crisp cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before serving.
