Apple- Oat Crisp

Ingredients

  • 3 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, halved, cored and sliced
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter,, cut into bits

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees,

  2. Arrange the apples in a deep-dish pie plate.

  3. In a medium bowl, combine the oat, sugar, walnuts, raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. With two knives or a pastry blender, combine with the butter until the mixture resembles a coarse meal. Sprinkle evenly over the apples.

  4. Bake the crisp for 30 minutes, or until golden brown on top. Let the crisp cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before serving.
