Ingredients
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 1 (12 oz.) can tomato paste
- 3 cups water
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. oregano
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
Directions

Cook onion and garlic in oil until tender. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer, uncovered, 3 minutes.

Variations:

Spaghetti Sauce: Add mushrooms, ground beef or Italian sausage.

Barbecue Sauce: Add 3 Tbsp. brown sugar, 2 Tbsp. vinegar and 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce to 2 cups sauce. Simmer 5 minutes. Serve over ribs, hamburgers, chicken or hot dogs.

Chili: Brown 1 1/2 lb. ground beef; combine with 2 (lbs.) can kidney beans, undrained, 2 Tbsp. chili powder, 1 tsp. salt and 4 cups sauce. Simmer 30 minutes.
