American Piece-A-Pie

Ingredients

  • 2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/4 cup shorting
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 8 oz. can tomato sauce
  • Cooking oil
  • Filling:
  • 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper

Directions

  1. Combine flour, baking powder, salt and chili powder in large mixing bowl. Cut in shortening. Add milk and 1/4 cup tomato sauce. Stir until dough clings together. Knead 12 times on floured surface. Pat or roll out on ungreased cookie sheet to within 1/2-inch of edge. Flute edge. Brush with oil. Spread with filling. Sprinkle

  2. with cheese. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. Serve hot.

  3. Filling: Combine ground beef, onion, flour, salt, chili powder, pepper and remaining tomato sauce.

  4. Tip: Pillsbury Refrigerated Seasoned Pizza Dough and Pizza Sauce may be used for the crust and the tomato sauce used in the filling.

  5. Stretch dough to a 14 × 11-inch rectangle. Flute to form standing rim.

  6. For use with self-rising flour, omit baking powder and salt.
