Ingredients
- 1 cup PLUS 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour, divided use
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar, divided use
- 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 medium apples, cored and sliced such as gala, Fuji or Arkansas black
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 cup confectioners' sugar
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. milk
Directions

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

In mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of the flour and 1/4 cup of the granulated sugar, the baking powder and the salt. Cut in butter until the largest pieces are the size of peas. Stir in egg yolk. Reserve about 2 Tbsp. of the mixture.

Press the remaining mixture into the bottom of an 8-inch baking dish.

In a separate bowl, combine the apples, the remaining flour, the remaining granulated sugar, the brown sugar and the cinnamon and mix well. Arrange apple mixture over crust in baking dish. Sprinkle with reserved flour-sugar-butter mixture.

Bake 40 to 45 minutes. Cool completely.

In a small bowl, stir together the confectioners’ sugar and milk. Drizzle over cooled bars and cut into squares.
