Ingredients
- Homemade BBQ Sauce:
- 8 oz. can tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 1/4 cup honey
- 3 tbsp. molasses
- 2 tsp liquid hickory smoke
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp chili powder
- 1 1/2 lbs. chicken breasts, trimmed
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Black pepper
- 3/4 cup Homemade BBQ

Homemade BBQ Sauce:

In a large saucepan, combine the tomato sauce, vinegar, tomato paste, honey, molasses, liquid smoke, salt, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cinnamon, and chili powder. Bring to a simmer over low heat and cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened, 15-20 minutes. The sauce will keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 month.

Season the chicken with the salt, garlic powder, and pepper to taste. Place it in slow cooker and pour the BBQ sauce over the chicken.

Cover and cook on LOW 6 hours or until chicken is falling apart. Shred the chicken with 2 forks and serve.
