Ingredients
- 1 tsp vegetable oil
- 1 1/2 cups pitted fresh or thawed frozen cherries
- 1 cup minced yellow onion
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 12 oz. bottle chili sauce
- 1 1/2 cup cherry cola
- 2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp. Worcestershire
- 1 dash liquid smoke

In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add cherries, onion, and garlic; cook, stirring frequently, until cherries and vegetables are tender. Mash cherries using the back of a spoon. Stir in chili sauce, cola, vinegar, Worcestershire, and liquid smoke, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium, and cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened, about 15 minutes. Let cool to room temp before using, or cover and refrigerate for up to 1 week.
