Ingredients
- 4 medium-size ripe pears
- 2 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
- 1/3 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
- 1/4 cup golden raisins
- 2 tsp. (packed) light-brown sugar
- 1 tsp. finely grated lemon zest
- 1/8 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 2 Tbsp. pure maple syrup
- 1 Tbsp. unsalted butter, quartered
- 2/3 cup apple juice or sweet cider
Directions
-
Preheat the oven to 350 degree. Core the pears and cut a thin slice off the bottom of each, so that pears stand upright. Peel 1 inch of the skin from around the top of each pear. Drizzle the flesh with lemon juice to prevent discoloration. Place the pears in a baking dish to fir.
-
Combine the walnuts, raisins, brown sugar, lemon zest, cinnamon and maple syrup in a small bowl. Stuff the pear cavities with the filling a dot each with butter. Pour the apple juice into the bottom of the baking dish.
-
Bake the pears for 1 hour, basting frequently. Serve for dessert or as a savory side dish with roast pork or turkey.
