Ingredients
- 2 pkg. (16 squares) semi-sweet baking chocolate, divided use
- 3/4 cup firm-packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 2 cups chopped nuts, optional
Directions

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Coarsely chop 8 squares of chocolate. Set aside.

microwave the remaining 8 squares of chocolate in a large bowl on high 1 to 2 minutes or until melted. Stir until smooth. Add brown sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla; and mix well. Stir in reserved chopped chocolate and nuts.

Drop by 1/4 cups, leaving generous space between, onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 12 to 13 minutes or until cookies are puffed and feel set to touch. Cool on cookie sheet 1 minute. Transfer to foil to cool.
