Ingredients
- 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp. melted butter or margarine
- 1 1/2 cups red-ripe firm strawberries, sliced
- Crumble Topper:
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
Directions

Sift together dry ingredients; add milk, egg, and butter; beat 2 minutes. Turn into greased 8 × 8 × 2-inch baking pan. Top with sliced berries; sprinkle with Crumble Topper.

Bake in moderate oven (375 degrees) about 35 minutes or until done. Cut in 9 squares. Serve warm with ice cream.

Crumble Topper: Combine flour and sugar; cut in the butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add 1/4 cup chopped walnuts.
