Ingredients
- 3/4 cup of shortening
- 1 1/2 cup of sugar1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp. of salt
- 1/2 cup of chopped nuts
- 1 cup of mashed bananas
- 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups of flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- Caramel Icing:
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 6 Tbsp. of butter or margarine
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Directions

Mix shortening, sugar and eggs, then add the dry ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk, then add bananas, lemon juice and the vanilla. Bake at 350 degrees until done.

Caramel Icing:

Melt sugar and butter slowly add the milk and boil about 2 minutes. Add confectioners’ sugar and vanilla.
