Banana Split Trifle

Ingredients

  • 3 cups milk
  • 2 pkg. instant banana pudding (3/4 oz. each)
  • 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese. softened
  • 2 containers frozen nondairy whipped topping, thawed and divided (8 oz. each)
  • 1 box wafer cookies (12 oz.)
  • 4 bananas, sliced to 1/4 inch thickness
  • 21 oz. can cherry pie filling
  • 12 1/4 oz. jar prepared hot fudge sauce1/2 cup chopped salted peanuts
  • Garnish, Maraschino cherries

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine milk and pudding mix, whisking for two minutes or until thickened. In a separate bowl, combine cream cheese and 1 container whipped topping, beating at medium speed with a electric mixer until smooth.

  2. Combine pudding mixture and cream cheese mixture, beating until smooth. In the bottom of a trifle bowl layer half the cookies, standing some upright around base of bowl. Follow with 1/3 of the pudding mixture, half the banana slices and cherry pie filling. Repeat layers with remaining wafers, pudding and bananas. Top with fudge sauce and remaining container of whipped topping. Sprinkle with peanuts. Garnish with cherries, if desired. Store covered tightly in refrigerator.
