Barbecued Pork Shoulder

Ingredients

  • 1 (3 1/2 to 4 lb.) pork shoulder roast
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 1 to 2 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp. prepared mustard
  • Hamburger buns (optional)

Directions

  1. Cover roast with lightly salted water in a large Dutch oven. Cover and cook over medium heat 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until tender. Drain, and slice thinly; place in a shallow 2-quart baking dish.

  2. Combine next 9 ingredients, stirring well. Spoon sauce over sliced roast, turning slices to coat.

  3. Bake at 300 degrees for 45 minutes. Serve on buns, if desired.
