Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1 cup vinegar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup catsup
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp. dry mustard
- 1 Tbsp. or more chili powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. freshly ground pepper
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 bay leaves
- 1/4 tsp. ground oregano
- 1 large onion, minced

Combine butter or margarine, vinegar, water, catsup, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, dry mustard, chili powder, salt, pepper, sugar, bay leaves, oregano, onion and garlic in a large saucepan. Bring to boiling; reduce heat; simmer covered, for 15 minutes. Remove bay leaf.

If the sauce is too thick, add a little water. For a smoother sauce, whirl in electric blender.
