Ingredients
- 1 medium head cabbage
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1 Tbsp. barbecue spice rub
- 1/4 cup barbecue sauce, optional
Directions
-
Remove the core of the cabbage with a sharp paring knife, leaving a hole about 3 inches deep.
-
Gently loosen cabbage leaves. Sprinkle interior of the cabbage with the barbecue spice rub and spread pats of butter in cavity and between leaves of cabbage.
-
Wrap the cabbage of heavy-duty foil so all but the core is covered.
-
Place the cabbage in the center of a cooking grate over medium-hot indirect heat. Cook for about 1 1/2 to 2 hour or until very tender and leaves pull off the core easily. Baste occasionally with the barbecue sauce and butter that collects in the core. Cut into wedges and serve.
-
This also can be baked in a 350 degree oven. Bake until tender and the leaves pull off like an artichoke.
