Ingredients
- 1/2 C butter-do not use buttery crisco
- 3/4 C sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 t salt
- 1 1/2 C flour
- 1 t baking powder
- Raspberry or blackberry jam-used 11.5 oz "Just Fruit" blackberry Kroger brand PLUS 4 T Smuckers Natural Red Raspberry fruit spread
- 3/4 C brown sugar
- 1/2 C chopped nuts-walnuts are good-chop finely
Directions

Cream butter and white sugar in bowl. Beat 1 egg with additional 1 egg yolk

Stir into creamed mixture

Stir in salt, flour and baking powder.

Spread on 9X13 baking pan

TRY cooking this for about 20-25 minutes then topping with jam and meringue (10/17)

Spread layer of jam over flour mixture

Beat remaining egg whites only until stiff

Add brown sugar
-
Fold in nuts
-
Spread over jam

Bake 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes

Cut into squares (Might want to cut with sharp knife dipped into hot water to reduce cracking of the meringue topping)
