Ingredients
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, smashed
- 1/8 tsp crushed red pepper
- 15 oz. can crushed tomatoes
- 1 sprig fresh basil, plus 1/4 cup leaves
- Kosher salt and black pepper
Directions
-
In a medium saute pan or medium pot, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add the crushed tomatoes and basil sprig, stir to combine, and simmer until the sauce has thickened slightly and is fully flavored, about 10 minutes.
-
Remove and discard the basil sprig and garlic cloves. Stir in the basil leaves. Taste and add salt and black pepper as needed.
