Guinness Stew

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb Stew meat, cubed
  • 1 oz Bacon drippings
  • 1 ounce flour
  • 1 whole clove of garlic, peeled
  • 10 Beef broth cubes
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
  • 1/2 Green pepper sliced
  • 8 oz sliced mushrooms
  • 1 Lg onion sliced
  • 1 bottle Guinness
  • 1 tsp Bouquet garni

Directions

  1. Heat drippings in the pan and brown meat. Stir in flour. Add Guinness, beef broth, whole garlic, bouquet garni and mustard. Bring to a slow boil. Pour into oven proof casserole and cook two and half hours at 300 F. Add green pepper, onion and mushrooms. Cook 1/2 hour more, serve With boiled or mashed potatoes.
