Ingredients

• 1 C shortening or 3/4 C butter
• 1 C packed brown sugar
• 1/2 C sugar
• 1 t vanilla
• 2 eggs
• 2 1/4 C flour
• 1 t baking soda
• 1 t salt
• 2 C chocolate chips
• 1 C chopped nuts (optional)

Directions

1. Cream shortening or butter, brown sugar, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add eggs and beat well. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; add to creamed mixture. Stir in Chocolate chips and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown. Cool slightly before removing from cookie sheet. Makes about 6 dozen 2 1/2 inch cookies.
