Ingredients
- 8 slices sourdough bread
- 1/2 cup olive oil, divided
- 6 tbsp. unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup chopped fresh basil
- 2 tbsp. minced fresh garlic
- Minced zest of 1 lemon
- Salt and red pepper flakes to taste

Preheat broiler to high with rack 6 inches from element. Line a baking sheet with foil.

Brush one side of bread slices with 1/4 cup oil; arrange on prepared baking sheet, oiled sides up.

Broil bread until lightly toasted and edges are golden, about 3 minutes; flip and let cool slightly.

Pulse butter, remaining 1/4 cup oil, basil, garlic, and zest in a mini food processor; season with salt and pepper flakes.

Spread butter mixture on non-oiled sides of bread slices.

Broil bread until lightly toasted and edges are golden, about 3 minutes; cut in half.
