Lemon-Basil Sourdough Garlic Bread

Ingredients

  • 8 slices sourdough bread
  • 1/2 cup olive oil, divided
  • 6 tbsp. unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 2 tbsp. minced fresh garlic
  • Minced zest of 1 lemon
  • Salt and red pepper flakes to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat broiler to high with rack 6 inches from element. Line a baking sheet with foil.

  2. Brush one side of bread slices with 1/4 cup oil; arrange on prepared baking sheet, oiled sides up.

  3. Broil bread until lightly toasted and edges are golden, about 3 minutes; flip and let cool slightly.

  4. Pulse butter, remaining 1/4 cup oil, basil, garlic, and zest in a mini food processor; season with salt and pepper flakes.

  5. Spread butter mixture on non-oiled sides of bread slices.

  6. Broil bread until lightly toasted and edges are golden, about 3 minutes; cut in half.
