Spicy Sesame Cauliflower

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 head cauliflower
  • oil, for frying
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon garlic
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Sriracha
  • sesame seed, garnish to taste
  • scallions, chopped, for garnish
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch slurry, mix 1/2 tbsp cornstarch and 1/2 tbsp water

Directions

  1. Whisk together flour, milk, baking powder and garlic powder.

  2. Add the chopped cauliflower and toss to coat. Make sure there’s a thin layer of batter over the cauliflower.

  3. Deep fry cauliflower until golden brown, remove and drain excess oil.

  4. Make the spicy sesame sauce by combining the sesame oil, garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar and sriracha.

  5. Bring the sauce to a boil then add the cornstarch slurry. Mix in and let the sauce thicken.

  6. Add the fried cauliflower and toss to coat in sauce.

  7. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped scallions. Serve with rice.
