Ingredients
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 3/4 cup bread crumbs
- 1/3 cup milk
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. hickory smoke salt
- 1 tsp. monosodium glutamate
- Pepper
- 1/2 cup minced onion
- 1/4 cup minced parsley
- 1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 12 oz. pkg. frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed
- 2 Tbsp. melted butter
- 3/4 cup grated Cheddar cheese
- 1 8 oz. can tomato sauce
- 1/2 tsp. chili powder
- 1/2 tsp. prepared mustard
- 1/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- Dash of hot sauce

Combine the egg with bread crumbs, milk, 1 1/4 tsp. salt, smoke salt, MSG, 1/8 tsp. pepper, onion and parsley and mix well.

Add the beef and mix well. Spread on bottom and side of greased 9-inch pie plate.

Mix the potatoes with remaining salt and dash pepper. Spoon into beef shell and drizzle with butter.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until beef mixture is browned. Sprinkle the cheese over potatoes and broil until cheese is melted and browned. Let stand for 5 minutes before cutting.

Combine remaining ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Serve with beef pie.
