Ingredients
- 1 small head cabbage, about 1 1/2 lbs.
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 lb. beef stew meat, cut in 3/4 inch cubes
- Soy sauce
- 10 whole allspice
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 cup chopped parsley
Directions

Cut cabbage in quarters and then in thin slices lengthwise.

Heat shortening in heavy 5-quart kettle or Dutch oven. Add meat and brown well.

Add cabbage, 2 quarts water, 1/4 cup soy sauce and the allspice. Bring to boil. Cover and simmer 2 hours, or until very tender. Season to taste with pepper and soy sauce. Add parsley.
