Beef-Liverwurst-Cheese Loaf

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup fine dry bread crumbs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 lb. liverwurst
  • 1 lb. ground chuck
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/3 cup minced onion
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1/2-inch sticks process American cheese

Directions

  1. Soak bread crumbs in the milk. Mash liverwurst and add beef, packed bread crumbs and remaining ingredients, except cheese. Mix well and put in oval 1-quart baking dish about 2 1/2 inches deep (9 × 5 × 3 inch loaf pan can also be used).

  2. Bake u preheated 350 degree oven 1 hour. Cool slightly in pan, then with apple corer scoop out about 8 holes and fill with cheese sticks, pressing in.

  3. Remove from pan and chill.
