Beef with Mushrooms

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. beef shoulder roast
  • 1/2 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. MSG
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water
  • 1/2 8 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 1 medium carrot, chopped
  • 1 medium stalk celery, chopped
  • 1 4 oz. can mushrooms, drained

Directions

  1. Lightly rinse meat. Scrape off unwanted surface skin and trim off fat; cut into 2 inch cubes. Brown on small amount of fat over medium-high heat.

  2. Add onion and cook, stirring, until yellow. Add all remaining ingredients except mushrooms; slowly simmer for 2 hours or until tender. Add mushrooms 15 minutes before serving.
