Caramel Cake/Graces/White sugar Frosting

Ingredients
- CAKE
- 1 C solid Crisco
- 1 1/2 C sugar
- 1 C water
- 4 eggs
- 3 C white Lily all purpose flour
- 2 t baking powder
- 1/2 t salt
- 1/2 t vanilla
- FROSTING
- 3 C white sugar
- 1 small can evaporated milk (5 oz? is smallest can?)
- salt-dash
- 1 1/2 sticks butter
- 2 T sweet milk
- Extra 1/3 C white sugar-caramelize
Directions

CAKE

325 degrees; 3 layers; Bake 20 + minutes

Cream Crisco and sugar

Double sift flour, salt and baking powder

Add eggs to creamed mixture, onae at a time

Alternate adding flour mixture and water, beginning and ending wigth dry ingredient

Add vanilla

Bake

FROSTING
-
Mix together sugar, evaporated milk, salt, butter, 2 T sweet milk

Bring to a boil

Remove from heat

Caramelize additional 1/3 C sugar and add to above mixture. Put back on stove and bring to a boil and boil for 1 minute.

Remove from heat

ADD 1 t vanilla

Now beat with hand mixer until spreading consistency
