Pan Seared Steaks with Balsamic Red Onions and Roasted Garlic and Porcini Mushroom Goat Cheese Butter

Ingredients
- For the balsamic onions:
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 1 splash Worcestershire sauce
- For the pan seared steaks:
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 2 (6 ounce) steaks (strip loin, rib eye, prime rib, etc)
- Montreal steak seasoning (or salt and pepper) to taste
- 2 tablespoons roasted garlic and porcini mushroom goat cheese butter (recipe)
Directions
- or the sauteed mushrooms:
- Heat the oil in a heavy bottomed pan over medium-high heat, add the onions and cook, stirring frequently, until the onions are tender and start to caramelize, about 10 minutes.
- Add the vinegar and cook until the vinegar mostly cooks off, about a minute.
- For the pan seared steaks:
- Wipe the pan clean, heat the oil over medium-high heat, add the steaks, seasoned to taste, and sear until cooked to the desired level of doneness, about 2-4 minutes per side for medium.
- Serve topped with the onions and melting roasted garlic and porcini mushroom goat cheese butter!

Option: Add 2 cloves garlic (chopped) and 1/2 teaspoon chopped thyme to the onions before adding the balsamic vinegar!
