Cooked Apples

Ingredients

  • 4 apples, cored
  • 4 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 strip lemon peel
  • 2 whole cloves

Directions

  1. Peel a spiral of skin off the top of each apple. Combine the remaining ingredients in a heavy medium saucepan.

  2. Boil for 1 minute, then add the apples, coating them with the liquid. Cover and simmer for 25 minutes, flipping the apples halfway through.

  3. Slice and serve. Store leftover apples in their cooking liquid in the fridge.
