Ingredients
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp. roughly chopped basil
- 1 tbsp. fresh oregano
- 2 tbsp. tomato paste
- 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes

In a medium saucepan, heat the oil and add the onion and garlic. Cook over medium-low heat until the onions turn translucent, 6-7 minutes. Add the salt, pepper, herbs, and tomato paste; stir until well mixed. Add the crushed tomatoes. Simmer over low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Place the saucepan on a trivet on the counter, or ladle a few cups of sauce into a large bowl and set out with the rest of the toppings.
