Best Burger with Blue Cheese Butter

Herbed Burger version: Add 2 tsp fresh thyme, 1 crushed garlic clove and 1 tbsp. finely chopped onion to the ground steak. Serve with garlic parsley butter (see recipe) in place of blue cheese butter.

Spicy Burger variation: Add 1/2 tsp tabasco, 1 tbsp. Worcestershire and 1 tsp Dijon to ground steak. Serve with cilantro chilli butter (see recipe) in place of blue cheese butter.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground chuck steak
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 4- 1/2-inch slices blue cheese butter (see recipe)
  • 4 sesame hamburger buns, halved

Directions

  1. Combine ground steak with salt and pepper. Divide into 4 equal-sized pieces and gently shape into 4 burgers about 1 inch thick. Grill burgers over hot coals for 4 1/2 minutes per side for medium. Place buns cut side down on grill until warm and lightly golden, 1 minute.

  2. Top burgers with butter and serve hot in sesame buns.
