Roasted Broccoli with Cheese Sauce

Ingredients

  • 3 heads fresh broccoli, cut into florets
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400.

  2. Place broccoli in a 13×9-inch baking dish. Bake for 30 minutes.

  3. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour; cook for 1 minute. Slowly whisk in milk; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cook, stirring frequently, until thickened, 4-5 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in cheese until melted and smooth. Taste, and add additional salt and pepper. Pour cheese sauce over broccoli. Serve immediately.
