Ingredients
- 2 (12-oz.) packages King's Hawaiian butter rolls
- 3 tbsp. unsalted butter
- 2 garlic cloves, minced and divided
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 1/2 lbs. ground sirloin
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 24 oz. jar tomato basil pasta sauce
- 16 oz. package shredded mozzarella cheese
- Garnish: chopped fresh basil leaves
Directions

Preheat oven to 400. Line a baking sheet with foil.

Using a sharp knife, cut a hole in the top of each roll big enough to fit a meatball. Reserve 1/2 cup bread/

In a small saucepan, heat butter over medium-low heat. Add 1 clove minced garlic; cook until softened, 1-2 minutes. Using a pastry brush, brush rolls with garlic butter. Place rolls on prepared pan.

Bake until light golden brown, 6-8 minutes.

In a medium bowl, stir together reserved 1/2 cup bread and milk. Let stand for 10 minutes, stirring to break up bread pieces. Add beef, egg, salt, Italian seasoning, and remaining 1 clove minced garlic, combining with hands. (Do not overmix). Shape mixture into 24 meatballs. Place on a rimmed baking sheet.

Bake for 20 minutes.

In a small saucepan, bring pasta sauce to a simmer. Add meatballs; simmer until warmed. Place a meatball in each bread roll hole. Sprinkle with cheese.

Bake until cheese is melted, 7-8 minutes. Sprinkle with basil. Serve with remaining pasta sauce.
