Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup + 1 tbsp. granulated white sugar
- 2 tbsp. butter, softened
- 2 tbsp. shortening
- 1/2 cup half-and-half
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 tsp vanilla

Prepare the dry mixture by sifting the flour into a bowl and mixing it with the salt and baking soda.

In a medium bowl, lightly beat an egg When the egg has become frothy, beat in the butter, sugar, and shortening. When the mixture is thoroughly mixed, beat in the half-and-half, vanilla, milk, and buttermilk. Continue beating the mixture until it is smooth.

While beating the wet mixture, slowly pour in the dry mixture, making sure to mix thoroughly and remove all the lumps.

Chill the batter overnight.

Take the batter out of the fridge. Preheat and grease your waffle iron.

Cook each waffler for three to four minutes. Serve with butter and syrup.
