Candied & Spiced Pecans

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups pecans
  • 1/2 egg white
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp chili powder
  • 3 tsp water

Directions

  1. Spray crock with nonstick spray.

  2. Place the pecans in the crock.

  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the 1/2 egg white and vanilla until it is frothy. Pour this over the pecans and stir until they’re evenly coated.

  4. In a separate bowl, mix the brown sugar, coconut sugar, cinnamon and chili powder. Pour this over the nuts and stir until they’re evenly coated.

  5. Cover and cook on LOW for 3 hours, stirring every 20 minutes. When there are 20 minutes left of cooking, stir in the water and recover the crock.

  6. When cooking time is over, spread the pecans out on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Let cool for 1 hour.
