Ingredients
- 1 1/2 packages frozen dinner rolls, thawed
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups half-and-half
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp kosher salt
- 21 oz. can apple pie filling
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 cups firmly packed light brown sugar, divided
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened and divided
- 6 tbsp. light corn syrup
- Garnish: confectioners' sugar
Directions
-
Spray a 3-quart baking dish with cooking spray. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
Using a serrated knife, cut 15 rolls into 1-inch cubes. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, half-and-half, vanilla and salt.
-
In another large bowl, place apple pie filling. Using kitchen scissors, cut apple slices into bite-size pieces. Add granulated sugar and cinnamon, stirring to combine. Stir in cubed rolled. Transfer to prepared dish. Pour egg mixture over top. Cover with foil, and refrigerated overnight.
-
Preheat oven to 375. Let casserole stand at room temp for 30 minutes.
-
Bake until heated through, about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, stir together flour, 3/4 cup brown sugar, and 1/2 cup butter until crumbly. Uncover casserole, and sprinkle with mixture. Bake, uncovered, until golden brown and set, about 20 minutes more.
-
In a medium, heavy-bottomed saucepan, cook corn syrup, remaining 1/2 cup brown sugar, and remaining 1/4 cup butter over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until heated through and sugar is dissolved. Drizzle with caramel sauce, and garnish with confectioners’ sugar.
