Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 lb. ground sirloin
- 2 tsp kosher salt
- Canola oil, for grilling
- 12 slices sharp Cheddar
- Toasted multi-seed burger buns, butter lettuce and Vidalia Onion Jam (See recipe), to serve
Directions
-
In a large bowl, gently combine beef, sirloin, and salt. Divide mixture into 6 portions, and shape each portion into a 1-inch-thick patty. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
-
Place a cast-iron griddle on grill and preheat to medium-high heat. Brush griddle with oil.
-
Cook patties on griddle, with grill lid closed, until browned, 3 to 5 minutes, smashing each with a spatula half way through cooking time. Turn patties; repeat, and cook until desired doneness, about 2 minutes more for medium. Remove from heat. Top each with 2 slices cheese. Serve burgers on buns with lettuce and Vidalia Onion Jam.
