Ingredients
- 4 slices bacon, halved crosswise
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 tbsp. whiskey (such as Jack Daniel's)
- 1 tbsp. Worcestershire
- 1 tbsp. cola
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 4 slices cheddar or Applewood-smoked cheddar cheese
- 4 pretzel buns, split and toasted
- Assorted toppings such as ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomato and/or onion
Directions
-
Preheat an outdoor grill to medium-high heat.
-
Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned and crisp, about 10 minutes. Transfer to paper towels to drain.
-
Mix together beef, whiskey, Worcestershire, cola, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper in a bowl. Divide mixture into 4 portions; shape each into a 1-inch-thick patty. Make an indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb.
-
Lightly oil grill grate. Add patties; grill, covered 5-7 minutes per side, or until cooked to your liking. Top each patty with a cheese slice the last minute of grilling. Top each patty with 2 bacon-slice halves. Serve on buns with toppings.
