Letter-Stamped Butter Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temp
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Decorating icing and sprinkles
  • Alphabet cookie stamp

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, cream butter and confectioners’ sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg. Combine flour and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Divide dough into thirds. Shape each into a ball, then flatted into a disk. Wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

  2. Preheat oven to 350. On a floured surface, roll 1 portion of dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut with floured 2 1/2 inch shaped cutters.

  3. Place 1 inch apart on greased baking sheets. Press stamp into cookie. Repeat with remaining portions of dough. Bake until set, 8 to 10 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool completely. Decorate with icing and sprinkles.
