Grandmother’s Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 2 cups butter
  • 6 eggs
  • 4 cups flour
  • 2/3 cup milk

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325. Grease two 5×9-inch loaf pans, then line with parchment paper.

  2. Cream together sugar and butter in a large bowl with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, 1 at a time. Beat in flour alternately with milk, mixing just until incorporated. Spread batter evenly into prepared loaf pans.

  3. Bake until a toothpick inserted into centers comes out clean, about 1 hour. Remove from oven, loosen edges with a knife, and let cool 10 minutes. Remove cakes from pans, peel off parchment, and let cool completely on wire racks. Dust with powdered sugar before cutting each loaf into 10 slices.
