The Best Sausage Pizza

Ingredients

  • The Best Pizza Dough (see recipe)
  • 1 1/2 lbs. bulk Italian sausage
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 green pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese

Directions

  1. Divide dough in half. With greased fingers, pat onto 2 ungreased 12-inch pizza pans. Prick dough thoroughly with a fork. Bake at 400 until lightly browned, 10-12 minutes. In a skillet, cook sausage, onion, pepper and mushrooms over medium heat until the sausage is no longer pink; drain. Spread pizza sauce over each crust. Top with sausage mixture; sprinkle each pizza with mozzarella. Bake at 400 until golden brown, 12-15 minutes. Or, wrap pizzas and freeze for up to 2 months.
