Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 chopped onion
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 cups water
- 3/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 tsp Dijon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Dash Worcestershire
- Pinch cayenne pepper
- 6 burger buns
- Pickle slices
Directions
-
Add beef and onion to a large skillet over medium heat. Cook, stirring to break up lumps, until beef is browned, about 10 minutes.
-
Add green pepper and garlic; cook, stirring, until softened, 2 to 3 minutes. Add 1 cup water and bring to a boil, scraping up browned bits from bottom of skillet. Stir in ketchup, brown sugar, Dijon, salt, black pepper and Worcestershire. Add remaining 1 cup water and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and continue simmering, uncovered, stirring occasionally, until liquid has evaporated and mixture thickens, about 40 minutes.
-
Stir in cayenne. Serve on buns with pickle slices.
