Ingredients
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup plain yellow cornmeal
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 cup whole buttermilk
- 1 cup minced spicy pickles
- White Barbecue Dipping Sauce (see recipe)

a large Dutch oven, pour oil to a depth of 2 inches and heat over medium-high heat until a deep-fry thermometer registers 375.

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cornmeal, salt, pepper and baking soda; make a well in center of mixture. Stir in eggs and buttermilk just until combined; fold in pickles.

Fry batter by tbsp.fuls until golden brown, 1 to 2 minutes per side. Let drain on paper towels. Serve with White Barbecue Dipping Sauce.
