Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp cornmeal
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Dash onion powder
- 3 tbsp shortening
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 16 oz. mini smoked sausages
- Oil for frying
- Spicy ketchup

In a small bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt and onion powder; cut in shortening until crumbly. Whisk milk and egg; stir into flour mixture just until moistened. Dip sausages into batter.

a cast-iron skillet, heat oil to 375. Fry sausages, a few at a time, until golden brown, 2 to 3 minutes. Drain on paper towels. Serve with ketchup.
