Ingredients
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2/3 cup chopped onion
- 1 1/2 cups tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 3 tbsp bread-and-butter pickle juice
- 2 tbsp light brown sugar
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 tsp yellow mustard
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp hot sauce
- 4 cups chopped smoked brisket
- 1/2 cup chopped bread-and-butter pickle slices, plus more to serve
- Toasted buns, to serve

In a 10-inch cast-iron skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add onion; cook, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned, 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, pickle juice, brown sugar, Worcestershire, tomato paste, mustard, onion powder and hot sauce; cook for 6 minutes. Stir in brisket and chopped pickles. Cook until heated through, about 5 minutes. Serve on toasted buns with pickle slices.
