Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 4 apples
- Toppings:
- Diced crystallized ginger+toasted sesame seeds
- Crushed cookies+a drizzle of melted white chocolate
- Chopped walnuts+dried cranberries
- Toasted shredded coconut+chopped macadamia nuts
- Crushed cheese crackers
- Salted peanuts+caramel popcorn
Directions

Cook sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat, swirling the pan but not stirring, until caramel-colored. Remove from heat and stir in heavy cream, vanilla and salt. Transfer to a 4-cup liquid measuring cup; cool slightly. Insert sticks into the stem ends of apples. Dip into the caramel, letting the excess drip off. Roll in toppings, then let cool on a parchment-lined baking sheet coated with cooking spray.
