Italian Beef Sandwiches

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 lb. English roast
  • 16 oz. jar pepperoncini
  • 6 to 8 sub buns
  • butter
  • 6 to 8 large slices provolone or mozzarella

Directions

  1. Place the roast into the slow cooker and pour the jar of pepperoncini, juice and all, over the top of the roast.

  2. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours.

  3. Remove the roast and shred it between two forks. Replace it back in the slow cooker and stir it through the juices.

  4. eheat the oven to 400.

  5. Place each sub bun open-faced on a foil-lined cookie sheet. Spread a bit of butter on each side. Place the cheese on top of each bun. Place them in the oven for about 8 minutes, or until brad is slightly toasted and the cheese is melted.

  6. Remove the sub buns from the oven and place a good portion of Italian beef on top.
