Swiss Steak

If desired, gravy can be thickened with leftover flour.
After browning, meat can be backed in oven instead of electric skillet

Ingredients
- 2 Ibs round steak (1 1/2" thick)
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 4-6 Tbsp shortening
- 1 med sliced onion
- 2 cubes beef bouillon
- 1 cup hot water
Directions

Cut meat into 6 serving pieces

Combine flour, salt, pepper

Pound mixture into both sides of meat

Preheat electric skillet to 325

Melt shortening and brown meat on both sides about 15-20 minutes, adding more shortening if necessary

Place onion slices on top of meat

Dissolve bouillion cubes in the hot water and pour around meat

Cover, reduce temp to low
-
Cook 2-2 1/2 hours or until meat is fork tender.
