Spaghetti Bake

Serves 12 people

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 Ibs ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 28oz can tomatoes, cut up
  • 1 15oz can tomato sauce
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp dried oregano, crushed
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp dried basil, crushed
  • 8oz spaghetti, broken and drained
  • 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese (8oz)
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

  1. Cook ground beef, chopped onion and minced garlic til beef is browned and onion tender

  2. drain excess fat

  3. Stir in undrained tomatoes, tomato sauce, sugar, crushed oregano, salt and crushed basil

  4. Bring meat mixture to boiling, boil gently uncoverered for 20 minutes

  5. Remove meat sauce from heat

  6. Stir in drained spaghetti

  7. Place half of the spaghetti meat sauce in 13×9×2 baking dish

  8. sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese

  9. Top with remaining meat sauce

  10. sprinkle with Parmesan cheese

  11. Bake at 375 for 30 minutes
